At Temple Sounds we ethically source the best singing bowls from individuals all over the Himalayas and India. All stock is UK based.
Chakli 'hat' singing bowls: Very rare type, with distinctive trapezoid 'V' shape profile. These bowls originate from Northern India and are almost always thin walled and quite large. They will usually have slow 2nd octave frequencies and pleasing sounds. Rim play is usually easy and harmonics are possible, stick strike can rattle because of the thin walls but mallet strike is usually superb. The bowls work well as a set of 7 or more and respond well to small and large mallet strikes.
This bowl:
Diameter at largest point: 9.75". Medium thickness wall.
Note: F2 89Hz. good longevity, good rim play with harmonic. Super low frequency with mallet with complex soundscape.
Decoration: Lines inside, some ritual. slashes outside.
