A decorated Nepalese Dhyrangro shamans' drum.
I have a few of these, all slightly different in looks and sound. Your drum will be chosen at random.
This is all hand made from wood and animal hide with a carved wooden phurba handle. The drum comes compete with a naga beater.
This double skinned drum has a male skin and a female skin. Inside are ritual items: a lump of quartz fro the Himalayas, a piece of copper to represent shiva's blood and seeds. Some drums also contain a small bell.
The sun moon and OM symbols together represent a harmony of cosmic energy, spiritual balance and consciousness.
The Trident and cobra (trishul and naga) are profound symbols representing mastery over cosmic forces, self control and the balancing of opposing energies.
I discuss and play these drums in this video: https://youtu.be/h5j4cDOYkh8
Thanks for looking!
